Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane claims that superstar Gareth Bale was highly disappointed after learning about the sacking of Rafa Benitez.
The arrival of the Spaniard coincided with a good time for the Welshman, who has been under the shadows of Cristiano Ronaldo even though he has cost considerably more than the former Manchester United star. Bale was brought in during the time of Ancelotti, who had a special relationship with Ronaldo. Consequently, Bale’s performances suffered and he was the victim of vile abuse from his own supporters. It was a surprising element considering that Bale played a starring role in the club’s Champions League success in his first season at the club.
While playing under Benitez, Bale started playing with much more assurance. The former Liverpool manager has seen the 25-year-old from close quarters. This appears to have played a major role in convincing that Bale was the future of Madrid and not Ronaldo. Following the departure of the Spaniard, Bale’s future at the club is once again under doubt. Zidane is widely seen as the next choice to coach Madrid. He has been groomed in this role for the last few years under Ancelotti.Zidane has been in charge of the Real Madrid B team.
Zidane’s appointment is likely to favour Bale since the Frenchman has always spoken highly of the former Tottenham star. “Gareth might be upset by Rafa leaving, he was an important coach for him. But I will give him the same care and attention Rafa did.He is fundamental for the team and what he has been doing of late for us on the pitch is phenomenal. He will have all my support so that he continues to play well for us. Yes. That is the idea. Clearly,” said the Frenchman about reinstating the ‘BBC’ attack.
