CASEMIRO DEFENDS GARETH BALE OVER BOOS

Following the booing from Real Madrid fans, teammate Casemiro has defended Welsh superstar Gareth Bale.

The fans booed the former Tottenham Hotspur forward for the second game in a row as the defending champions cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over APOEL Nicosia in the Champions League.

The fans have a history of booing their own; even star man Cristiano Ronaldo has suffered a similar fate. However, Casemiro is not having any of it any longer as he asks that the booing be stopped.

In strong terms, Casemiro rose to the defence of Bale whose goalscoring has slowed down considerably.

“He was a very strong player for us and I hope he continues to be so. With the quality he has, things will be going well for him one day. You can see that Bale is working. He wants to score goals and he’s fighting to always help Real Madrid,” the defensive midfielder said.

Coach Zinedine Zidane ignored questions on the subject, saying he did not “listen to the whistles, only the applause.”

The fans want more from the top player. He has scored just once in six games. With Ronaldo serving a match ban, the team has struggled with goals. The fans want more from the Manchester United target. With the boos, there have been speculations that the player might return to the Premier League.

Real Madrid face Real Sociedad away in the La Liga on Sunday. They would be seeking a strong victory after stuttering in defence of their La Liga title.
