GARETH BALE SETS NEW PERSONAL BEST

Wales international Gareth Bale put his name on the score sheet once again in the game against Roma on Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League, with a decent supply of end product having been delivered this season.

The Real Madrid winner has recorded a new personal best in the Champions League with a phenomenal run of form, at a time when Real Madrid are in dire need of a player to counter the loss of star man Cristiano Ronaldo.

Bale has had some terrific moments on the grandest European stages already, most notably the stunning bicycle kick he pulled off in last season’s final.

He also found the back of the net in a continental showpiece back in 2014 as Real Madrid edged out arch-rivals Atletico Madrid in extra time.

The former Tottenham Hotspur player had also previously starred in the Champions League for Spurs, most notably a hat-trick of goals against Inter Milan some years back.

He is however, enjoying the most productive season of his career to date in 2018/2019 after the departure of former target man Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 29 year old was back among the goals during a meeting with Roma on Tuesday, with Real Madrid looking to provide an immediate response to another domestic setback against Eibar.

Bale has now scored at least one goal or provided an assist for a teammate in each of his last five European outings which is a new high for the forward. He will need to maintain this level of consistency if he is to help carry Real Madrid towards a fourth consecutive Champions League crown.

Ronaldo has been their go-to man for goals and assists for the past nine years but now that the legendary forward is gone, fans have now cast their eye on Gareth Bale to produce results, and so far he is doing just that.
